asking for a lawyer
I currently do not have a lawyer to represent me at a scheduled visitation hearing. I have lots of back up to present for my side of the story. During the trial will I be able to stop and ask for a lawyer if I don't agree with what is going on?

I doubt that you will be able to stop the proceeding and ask for a lawyer. The general view is that you make the choice of representing yourself or hiring a lawyer before you get to court. If you choose to represent yourself, it would be harmful to the system to allow you to stop the proceeding because you feel that you were doing poorly. If everybody did this, very little would get done in court.

You should decide to retain an attorney now. If you proceed without an attorney it is unlikely the court will postpone the proceedings in progress to allow you to get an attorney unless you are apt to incriminate yourself criminally.
