Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Life Insurance and divorce

It states in my divorce decree that my child be listed as irrevocable beneficiary on any life insurance policies currently in effect until he reaches 25. My divorce is final now so if I remarry and open a new policy can I list my new spouse as beneficiary? Does the wording in the divorce that states ''currently in effect'' mean that only current policies are effected. Please let me know

Re: Life Insurance and divorce

Your interpretation seems correct, but you should ask the attorney who represented you in your divorce or such attorney as you may choose to retain to read the divorce judgment and advise you regarding its specific language. Good Luck!
