Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I live in Massachusetts. I would like to change my childs name to my last name but he has his fathers last name. He is the only boy. His father pays child support but has always been like 50 dollars behind. He makes no effort on his own to see his child. He will most likely refuse this request. Do I have a case.

You can try, but Dad will need to be notified and would be entitled to file an objection.
