Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I live in Massachusetts, have one child, and have been divorced since June 2008. It was a very nasty divorce and cost over $20K. There was a GAL involved and I had sole custody until the day of the divorce. In Oct 2008, my ex filed a modification for child support. He has changed lawyers 4 times, 2 during this procedure. This lawyer has filed for modification on visitation and child support. My ex and I do not communicate. He does not offer any additional help to me or contributes for extra curricular activities or private school which my child attends. We are scheduled for trial on this matter. My legal bill is already at $12K and my lawyer is frustrated playing phonetag and trying to a settlement. I can't afford this but need legal counsel for my childs well being. Is there any advice someone can give me? He has substantial visitation now and 3 wks vacation/yr. He is very unreasonable, uncivilized, and lets his hatred towards me get out of line. No respect and constantly questions and makes my child nervous. Please offer some advice, I am broke, stressed, and a nervous wreck all the time!
