Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Ive been married for 24 years,we have 5 children the youngest is 18 a full time student and just went through radiation and toe amputation a year and a half ago for cancer. My husband lost his job in 2008 and now we are trying to sell our house in a shortsale because we can't afford it.I have a part time job i make about 150 per week and have done that and been home for our entire marriage.I have no education and no work experience (i deliver newspapers)My husband got a job in another state and moved so now we have his rent etc.He doesn't want to deal with the house or any of the bills and there are a lot.He told me I can have what is left every month to pay bills. We have no savings or anything. So when the house sells I will be homeless. And I have to deal with everything here even though most bills are in his name. Also we both have defaulted student loans so I cant even go to school.I am 50.What are my rights? Does he get to just walk away from all his resposibility.
