Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
object to child's name change
I live in New York and I have to file a written appearance in probate and family court in massachusettes (where my 5-yr-old daughter lives) -- I want to object to her mother wanting to change her name to her new husband's last name -- she has 3 other children with 1st husband and now another baby on way with new husband. My whole family is involved with my daughter and I'm up to date with child support though my ex feels I don't call my daugher enough... my question is, what is a Written Appearance and is this just a letter I can mail in a hurry tomorrow (time is running out) or is this an actual legal form? Please hurry with an answer! thanks so much for any help!

Re: object to child's name change
You simply file a statement of the reasons for your objection. I assume you see your daughter on a regular basis. If you want assistance, I suggest you contact an attorney.
