Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Ex owes back child support, now asking me for support.

My daughter(17) 18 in a few months, who has lived with me since my divorce(16yrs ago) has move in with her father.She is a senior in H.S. and plans on going to college. My ex has now filed a motion for child support from me even though he owes almost$7000 in back support. will the court just deduct my support from what he already owes me?How does that usually work?
