Re: Paternity test

If a man has been named as the putative father of a child, he can be required by a court to provide DNA for testing, as can the mother of the child if he does not agree that he is the father. If both mother and putative father agree that he is the father, and no other man is lawfully claiming paternity, no test is required so long as the parties sign off on a proper acknowledgment of paternity.
