Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
Is Polygamy legal in the U.S.? In MASS? in CT.? in PA.? My soon to be ex-husband who is a muslim (where polygamy IS allowed in other largely muslim countries) has "religiously married" a second woman in the state of CT. We willbe divorcingsoon, but have been married 30 years with the marriage registered in the state of PA. If he did not file for the marriage license in CT, but just did a religious ceremony in a mosque, can this be contested in court? he is a foreigner who was able to become a U.S. citizen being married to me, then has cheated on me incessantly since coming here.

Polygamy is not legal in the United States. You, the legal spouse, can raise his cohabitation in a divorce action. You may even be able to seek a criminal prosecution for bigamy. His unfaithful behavior does not affect his immigration status if he is a citizen.
