Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
I was in the process of hiring a divorce attorney. I contacted a Divorce Attorney and he had set up a phone consultation where we had agreed on a specific date and time to talk. He took my name and also took my husbands name to do a conflict of interest. I spoke to him on that specific date about my case and we discussed everything and he had made several suggestions as to how he would tackle certain issues. The attorney emailed me letting me know that he could help me and that he would send a fee agreement and that he would get started on the cases. About 4 days later I was assaulted my by husband which put everything on hold. About 4 months later I began the process of looking for a divorce attorney and found a different one because I didn't remember who the initial attorney was. My husband ended up hiring the attorney that I spoke to at length about my case. I believe that this is a conflict of interest because he is going to be using information that I gave him to his advantage.

If you discussed the substance of your circumstances, there's a good chance that it would be a conflict of interest for him to represent your husband.
