Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

property isue on divorce case

Myself and my wife filed divorce case in Boston, MA. We both are Indian Citizen, We have been in the USA for the last 3 years. We have been separately living for 2 years. I have some property in India on my name. I brought 1 year before. Now she want to claim this property. Even She didn't know, where my property located?

My question is:

1. whether she entitled to claim my Indian country property or not?

2. whether I need to include this property in my financial statement or not?

I hired some lawyer in Boston. But he didn't much aware about international law.

I really appreciate you, if you could response this mail.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Susila

Re: property isue on divorce case

A divorce action in Massachusettes where both parties appear before the court has the power to divide property that is owned by either party even if it is in another country. You must reveal ALL assets on the financial statement including property in India.
