Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Two questions, actually (I am asking for a friend in the Philipines)

1. Is a marriage executed in the Philipines recognized in the United States and

2. If it is, could a divorce be carried out in the United States (there is no divorce in the Philipines)

1. Ma recognizes a marriage that was legal where "executed".

2. If a party estabishes residence in MA for a reason "other than to file a divorce" they may file for divorce in MA after satisfying the residency requirements.

1. MA will recognize a Phillipines marriage as long as it was legally executed.

2. If both parties have established residence in MA, 6 months I believe, for a reason other than obtaining a divorce then you can get a divorce here.
