Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I received a summons for a complaint to revise and alter a foreign decree/judgement from the Boston Area. I live in California. How can I respond and what is the validity of the complaint if California is the state which holds jurisdiction?

My guess is that a company or individual obtained a judgment against you here in Boston, and is attempting to "domesticate" it in California for the purposes of taking further collection activity against you. If the judgment against you is no good, and you believe that you have grounds to reverse it, you would need to file a Motion to Vacate here in Massachusetts. If that worked, you would not have to worry about the judgment being domesticated in California. If that is not an option, then you will need to treat the domesticated judgment in California just like any other judgment against you. Good luck, and do not hesitate to contact our office should you require any assistance here in Massachusetts.
