Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I have recently come across a dilemma with a woman regarding a horse. She had asked me if I wanted to take a horse of hers, to which I agreed. I just needed to sign a bill of sale, like I would with a car. Mind you, I am 17 years old and this 40 something year old woman is trying to pawn a horse off on me. Anyway, I realized I didn't have the to support a horse, so I told her I could no longer take the horse, but she told me I was stuck with her, just because I said I would take her. I never signed any paper work, which I couldn't even do because I am a minor. According to her, a lawyer she spoke with recently, says I am NOT a minor, and that I have full responsibility for it. So who is right? Me, who says I do not own the horse at all because no paper work was signed, or her, who says I own her, just because she has messages saying I would take her?

A contract has three elements-promise-consideration and duty. As such you have to analyze the three elements-there are not enough facts to provide a legal opinion here-consult with an attorney.

There is not enough information here for me to determine if indeed there is a contract.

However, a minor unless emancipated (legal term for a person under 18 who is deemed by a court to be an adult for purposes of taking care of themselves) does not have the ability to enter into a contract including a 17 year old.
