Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

I recently had to leave my two children in the care of there father do to the fact that I was not recieving adaquet child support from him and was going to end up homeless with them. I am now married and out of the country. Apparently there is a case for child support against me to be heard this week. I was never servered a summons because i am out of the country. I speak to him every week and he never mentioned anything untill yesterday. He says i will be arrested If i dont attend. As far as i know in massachusetts they will enter a judgement if I am not there. I can be arrested if I dont comply with the judgement. Can they put a warrent out for my arrest for not attending a child support hearing? Its the first hearing to come to an agreement about support. case was just opened.

Contact the Court Explain you are out of the country and cannot attend. Fax a response and ask for a continuance so you can attend.

I suggest you retain local counsel to assist. If you do not work or have income you need to disclose that as well.

The court will enter judgment against you and can issue a bench warrant for you comply with the court order.

Do not ignore the matter.
