retirement division
dose your lawyer divide it or do i get a special person to do it and about how much would it cost

Usually, an attorney at least approves the draft of the Qualified DOmestic Relations Order. Most retirement plans have pre-approved forms which can be used to simplify the process.

It depends on what the retirement is. Only plans that come under ERISA require a special court order. If it is an IRA, for example, a judge could just order the division and then it's just a matter of setting up a separate account.
