Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Ri

I am separated, but not divorced presently living in MA.

I have verbal permission to move with my daughter to a farm I have become a manager of, in RI. Do I need legal documentation too?

Am I breaking any laws if he has agreed it's the best thing for her?

Re: Ri

Unless and until there is a court order in place for custody and visitation, you are free to move just as if you and your spouse were moving together. Rhode Island courts will not have jurisdiction over custody issues until your daughter has resided there for the requisite amount of time.
