Re: What are my rights

You are entitled to a divorce. The courts deems your marriage to be a long term one, in which alimony may be awarded based on certain factors, which are unknown based on this email. I will be happy to discuss this in more detail via email or phone. Both parties will be responsible for a portion of the college education. Again I cannot say an amount or percentage without further information. All of your assets and liabilities will have to be divided.

Feel free to call with more specific details.

What are my rights or what to expect from a divorce?

Your rights are the same as every other person seeking a divorce.

I think what you are raising is how would the court deal with a 23 year marriage and 2 kids.

You would be entitled to child support, if you have physical custody. It is generally based on a formula that takes into account the gross earnings of both parents. There would be also some contribution to the children's education. Other issues include spousal support, property division, allocation of debts and assets, insurance, medical insurance, and other areas.

While the conduct of the parties is taken into account, it depends on the judge. Other factors are also taken into account. Their listing would take more than the space I have.
