Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Seek Work Program

For eleven years my ex-husband has ''owned'' his own business which earns him a $16,000 a year salary and therefore he pays a very minimum child support.

We are up for a modification and I am doing this alone. Can I ask the court to enter him into a ''Seek Work'' program so that we can each support our children evenly?

Re: Seek Work Program

You probably should have done something before. What is needed is to do discovery and hire an accountant to go over his books.

Certainly, if he is capable of earning more, than you may get a court to order him to seek a job more in line with his true earning capacity.
