Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Separated with no visitation or financial agreements in place.

I am living seperately from my wife. Since the separation I have been paying all the household bills. Unfortunately this is preventing me from retaining a lawyer. My main issue is that she is playing games with me seeing the kids. Also, if I were to stop paying the household bills it would be detrimental to my children. So basically I'm caught in a situation where I am at her whim as far as seeing them. My question is what are my options and what am I legally required to be paying right now seeing as we don't have any formal agreement in place?

There are child support guidelines which ascertain the proper amount of child support.

You will need to go to the family and probate court in your county and either file a complaint for separate support, (if you do not want a divorce, but just wish to set support guidelines) or a complaint for divorce if your wish is to divorce.

After your complaint if filed, you can file a motion at anytime for temporary orders of child support/visitation, etc.

Good luck! Feel free to email me if you have any further questions. Sincerely, Maria Murber
