If you are under a current custody and visitation order, then you will need the permission of the other parent or the court before you will be permitted to relocate the children. If you are not currently under any such order, you would still be well-advised to obtain the permission of the other parent before relocating or taking an extended trip outside of the state. You may risk a claim of parental kidnapping. Talk to a lawyer to be safe!
