Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts
I have shared custody of my sons who are in college. My child support was adjusted in our finalized agreement to reflect shared custody with their father. In the past I tried to adjust the amount, but he fought the increase so I am still receiving the same amount that was initially calculated. Now he wants to stop paying me the support since I\'m not paying for college (my support goes to support the house, and personal costs for my sons). He says \"[the] law is clear that support should only continue beyond age 20 if the recipient is providing primary support for college education.\" Is this true?

No. He can seek modification and so can you. When you say shared custody, do you mean that the child spends half the time with you and half with him? I suggest you contact an attorney. As long as you are providing a home at least 50% of the time for your child you should get child support. However, once your child finishes college, ceases to be a full time student or reaches the age of 23 support stops.
I think you asked this question here or elsewhere. Contribution to child support and educational costs does not follow the rules set by your ex. At best, he is mistaken. Jonathan is correct.
