Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Shared Physical Custody

What exactly is this, and is it common. My son's father wants it but I do not feel right about it. My main concern is will he be able to take my son whenever for however long?

Thank you very much

Jessica

Re: Shared Physical Custody

Jessica, the people who support shared parenting are saying that EACH CHILD NEEDS BOTH PARENTS, A FATHER AND A MOTHER. It is in the best interest of the child to have a loving and caring and ongoing relationship with both of his or her parents. The children are not divorcing their parents. Only the parents are divorcing.

By the way, I am not only a lawyer, I am a grandmother of 5 beautiful children, each of whom have, fortunately, both of their parents.
