Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Does Not Show Visitations

I know you can not force a father to show for visitations but what do you do when he cancels half of them, shows up late, shows up early, shows up on different days then court ordered, brings them back late, brings them back hours early and most of the time cancels or just does not show. Will not pick up the phone and uses constant excuses like couldn't hear it ringing, out of range, in the other room, accidently shut it off or I admit I don't pick it up. He cancels out on his children to spend time with his girlfreind's children who are 17 and 20. Why would a father not wnat to spend that precious time with his children? Why? What do you do? I have tried talking to him about it and it is like talking to a wall.

Re: Does Not Show Visitations

I can't answer the question of WHY, but what you can do legally is seek a modification of the visitation schedule to decrease his visitation since he's not showing up for them.

Calmly explain to him directly or through someone whose opinion he values how important his visits are to the children. Good Luck!
