Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Step Father

My son lives with his mother and her husband on the weekdays, I have him on weekends.

I did not know they were married until last month when I was filling out medical paperwork for my son, and noticed that his mother had listed her husband as my son's ''step-father''.

Is ''step-father'' a legal term?

Or does it just mean he's married to my son's mother?

I'm uncomfortable with this guy using the title ''father'' in any form when it comes to my son, but if it doesn't have any legal meaning, in that case I don't really care, and there would be no reason to make an issue of it.

Thanks for any reply.

Re: Step Father

The term step father is appropriate in this situation. It has no legal significance. You are the child's father.
