Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Taking child on vacation out-of-state

I am a single mom taking my son and would like to take my son on vacation to disneyworld, florida. His father says he will stop me from doing it. We have never gone to court for custody or support. Can he do this?

Not unless there is something filed in court stopping you from doing so! You are his parent and if there is no legal document stopping you then your good to go... Of course, this is with the bare facts you have provided and again, only if there is nothing filed in court.

Why doesn't he want you to go? Maria

If there is no action regarding this issue, then taking a child on vacation is permissible.

At the same time, I would hope that the father is paying support. If he has not paid a reasonable amount of continued support, I would encourage you to recosider your position.
