Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Ex taking me to court over house

Me and my now ex put up the house for sale. We were to split the funds, the deed is in both our names. I was just informed that he has been speaking with a lawyer and if the house sells i dont get a penny, it will be wraped up in court and the fees taken from my share. He says it will be in court because he doesnt want to sell the house, i have the realtor papers that we both signed stating we wanted the house on the market. He is also threatening me with other law actions as well. Please help, i dont have money to afford a lawyer.

Ex taking me to court over house???

There is some information missing from what you described.

Was the property part of your divorce decree?

Was there a written agreement in the divorce or elsewhere describing what was to be done with the property, and how the net funds were to be disbursed?

You cannot rely on rumors. You need to know exactly the validity of any agreement you have with him.

You have not told me if the house is listed, and for how long.

You have not said if there has been an offer to buy.

If there is an offer to buy, has it been accepted, and has there been a P&S?

If you provide the information, it will be easier to understand this situation.

You can contact me with the additional information.
