if i have joint legal custody do i have to tell father if my son sees a therapist? his fathers in jail

You have to take into account the age and maturity of the child, as against your motive.

Technically the father has a right to know. It is doubtful that the father can do anything about it, provided the child is seeing a duly licensed professional.

Without knowing the reason for not telling the father it is impossible to advise you.

I am not sure if you are trying to protect the child or the father by withholding the information.
