Re: throwing an uncontrollable 16 year old out of the home

For a 16 year old, the parents can initiate a CHINS petition (Child in Need of Services) thru the Juvenile Court. In Mass, the parents are still responsible for the support of the 16 year old if they have the child removed, unless the CHINS places the child in DSS custody. just throwing the child out can result in a crimial neglect/abuse charge of a minor being filed against the parent. If you are having this level of trouble, go to the court and start a CHINS; you cannot throw the child out on the street.
