Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Unjustly Lost Custody

I lost physical custody of my daughter to her father. She has NEVER been a resident of any other state. How can Michigan have jurisdiction over a Massachusetts resident?871534005522

Retain a Massachusetts attorney to determine whether jurisdiction can be challenged and whether you need a Michigan attorney as well to assist in this. Good Luck!

Without more information, no one can possibly answer your question.

I assume your husband moved to MI and sought custody there. However, if you did not file an objection to jurisdiction or they asserted jurisdiction under some other theory, the MI court proceeded to take jurisdiction. I would suggest you appeal the order ASAP and also I would suggest you get a MA attorney immediately and seek an Order enjoining the MI courts order being enforced here.

If you did not have an attorney get one now and you may need one both here and in MI.

If you do not do anything, the MI Court will get its order enforced.
