unmarried fathers rights to custody

my ex-girl friend thinks i have no rights at all that i am nothing but sperm donner and that because she has another child with another father that the courts will nopt seperate the two to two seperat households. she also thinks that her parent have more rights over me in all aspects of the child. and she also beives that if she dies and leaves a will that it can dictate where the child goes even if its goes against what is best for the child according to state law. what are my rights here and what are my options?

In order to answer the question a bit more information is needed.

Are you the recognized legal father of the child? Assuming you are on the child's birth certificate or are ordered to pay child support, then you have all the rights of any father including the right to visitation and the right to custody.

I would suggest you contact an attorney with respect to your rights and if you need to establish those rights do so sooner rather than later.

If you have acknowledge paternity but have not yet retained an attorney to ask the court to enter an order defining your rights to custody and visitation and your support obligation you should do so. Good Luck!
