Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

Violent Wife

In this state, if a man reports a woman for being violent toward him, he is the one who will be arrested and made to leave the house. How can a man protect himself? Should he document things? Should he still contact the police?

Re: Violent Wife

Perhaps you should consider retaining an attorney to file and appropriate action in the Probate and Family Court. Good Luck!

Re: Violent Wife

If your wife is violent toward you, document it and leave the house. Go to court and seek an abuse prevention order. Yes, there will be doubt, but courts are more sensitive to reality in this day and age.

I have fought unfair suppositions several times and won. It's never easy.

At the same time, we all have to understand that there is a reality: men are often aggressive physically. You have to show that it's not true to get the protection. It may seem unfair, but all prejudices that begin in undeniable statistics ARE -- until you stop denying the statistics.

Re: Violent Wife

When the police gets a call for domestic violence, they are required to arrest someone but that does not mean they will always arrest the man. If you have defensive wounds on you and she has no marks of any kind, the police would have no reason to arrest you.

If you are in fear, there are domestic violence shelters that accept men and women.

Domestic violence, though mainly dominated by women, don't discriminate by gender, age, status or race. If you don't feel safe, you have the option to call the police or go to a shelter.
