As attorney Bilodeau explained, the best way to check on an attorney is with the Board of Bar Overseers (http://massbbo.org). In their website they have a "Look up a lawyer" feature in which you can enter the attorney's name and it will tell you their office address and whether they have had any records of public discipline.
Good Luck!

You can check with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers web site and that will indicate if they are active or are under disciplinary action.
You can check with Martindale Hubble on line and see if they are rated if they are rated AV that is the highest rating. However to get an AV rating you must request a survey to be done and many attorneys do not bother with this today.
Good Luck

The Board of Bar Overseers web site will tell you if the lawyer is being or has been disciplined, but not much else. Martindale Hubbard rates some lawyers. There are some web sites for lawyers that rate the lawyers, but the ratings are usually by a small number of clients and not very reliable.
You can Google the names (in quotes) to see if any have achieved fame or notoriety, but most lawyers don't make headlines or news.
You can ask the lawyers for references, previous clients, but again, that will be a small self-selected group.
We don't make it easy.
Re: need help-
Martindale-Hubble does NOT check the attorney's credentials. Once upon a time, I checked the info about an award an attorney claimed he had received. There was no such award or granting entity.
In an email, which you can see on my website, MH wrote and confirmed that they do NOT check the alleged credentials before publishing them.
As for the Board of Bar Overseers, it is an incompetent political organization. I am suing them. They do post whether there is a pending action of discipline against an atty, but it is, in my opinion, unconstitutional. I've sued them about it. That case is alive and well. As soon as I have an extra few hours, I'll upload the complaint to my website.
Personally, I have never heard of the attorneys you named, so I have no comment to guide you. Ask them if they have ever handled a case like yours, et cetera.
Good luck.
