my wife lives in massatusha and file for divorce on the basic of abuse , one year ago.we been seperated ove 6 years.should i just go ahead and sign the paper,or will it affect my criminal record.havent seen her over 3 years

What paper are you referring to? It is not necessary to list anything other than "irretrievable breakdown of the marriage", and you should advocate for that language. Please give me a call if you would like to discuss representation by a lawyer. 617-357-4898.

If you did not abuse her, object to the acquisation of abuse and accept the divorce for standard reason of irretrievable breakdown of the marriage.

It will not result in criminal charges per se, unless the court determines your actions warrant same or your wife files charges.

If you have a criminal record, you do not need this additional hastle.
