do i get paid while out on family and medical leave act due to a personal confidential medical condition by my employer or otherwise?

By law they are not obligated to pay you. It is up to the company and their policies as it applies to all of their employees. The FMLA only allows you to take a leave for medical reason for you or a family member and it ensures that your job will be there upon you return based on the medical note.
