Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

I was caught shoplifting at Macy's by security but I was not arrested. Security took my information and called the police to check if my record was clean. This is my first offense. The police did not come after they saw my record was clean. Security told me that I would not be arrested but Macy's will prosecute. Will Macy's really prosecute me? They told me that I will receive a letter in the mail for when to go to court. I paid $50 torwards the $500 Macy's Civil demand. This is my first offense. What is going to happen? Will I have a record for this? I am really worried and scared.
