Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Damage to Home

Good morning in May of 2005 I had my Rood replaced. My home had damage as a result of the contractor. The contractor was instructed not to begin work during the rain because a Noreaster had been forecasted, I returned home to find that the Shingles had been removed and the house covered in tarps. The tarps had blown partially off in the high winds and as a result the house sustained water damage. I had my insurance adjuster come to the house, the damages approx. $1200 I deducted this amount when I payed the Roof company. They wanted to fix the damage but would not supply any insurance information after 3 request I received their insurance information. I contacted their insurance and the agreement was to call it even with no more contact to be made from the Roof Company. Well after 15 months they called last week looking for the balance and to make the repairs to the home??? What should I do?

Re: Damage to Home

I hope that you sent them a confirming letter.

If not, contact the person who you spoke with at the insurance company, and ask him about the agreement. If the person is not there, speak to his supervisor. If you do not get an adequate response, ask to speak to the CEO of the Company. If they do not give you the name and telephone number, look it up on the web.
