Enforcement of Judgement
I have a Connecticut Judgement that needs to be enforced in Massachusetts. I was told that I needed to file a complaint on the Judgement. Is this correct? Several courts have given me different answers. Never dealt with this issue before. Also, what would the complaint look like. Thanks

You need to file in the appropriate court to enforce the judgment. Court employees are not supposed to give legal advice, so you should consult an attorney.

Generally to enforce an out of state judgment you would initiate an "action upon a judgment" in the proper court in Massachusetts by filing a complaint. But depending on the amount of the judgment and likelihood of collection you may want to investigate alternative means, like negotiation or a voluntary payment plan. To file the complaint in District Court will cost upwards of $200, plus the fees to serve, and then more fees to execute. If the person is judgment-proof, then you are likely throwing good money after bad.
