Engagement ring rights in MA

Does a man have a legal right in the state of MA to get his engagement ring back if he calls off the wedding?

Ah, the infamous engagement ring question. Just recently went through this with a client and the question turns on whether or not it was given as a gift.

There are no "legal" rights regarding a gift, unless you can prove it was something other than a gift.
