Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts
fundraising
I am the co chair of sports team fundraiser. We have spent 9 years raising money for the same coach. We are changing over to a new coach. We are unsure of how to handle the money transfer. The money is in my name and my co-chairs. We do not want to give all of the hard earned money to new team as we have no connection to them now. We'd like to ''gift'' them a portion of it and then set up a scholarship with the rest. Can we do this? I do not want to be accused of doing anything wrong or underhanded. Thanks.

Re: fundraising
You must use the funds for the purpose for which you raised it from the public.
