Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

grounds for civil suit? obtaining a lein?

I ended a relationship with a woman and we sold a mutually owned property. We signed an agreement with eachother about splitting the proceeds and she has failed to keep the agreement. She additionally ran up my credit cards and reneged on multiple verbal agreements she had made to pay for items which I purchased on my credit for her. Aside from her taking steps to harm me financially, there have also been issues associated to her willfully stalking me and knowingly causing me emotional suffering, as well as misrepresenting me our common work community- all of which have had an impact on my ability to work and parent effectively. Do I have grounds for a civil suit based on money issues and/or psychological harm/slander? Can I put a lein on her house until this matter is resolved and if so how?

Re: grounds for civil suit? obtaining a lein?

The short answer is that you need to consult with an attorney. Be sure to provide the attorney with a copy of the written agreement between you and your ex, and be sure to provide specific information about these other events to which you allude. Unfortunately, you haven't provided enough information for me to make a determination as to what your rights and remedies are in this instance. An attorney looking at everything more closely should be able to give you more concrete answers. Good luck.
