Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

My wife was given a cash gift in 2007
for a vacation. The person demanded
the money back and we agreed to
pay what we could. We also agreed to
pay a 50 dollar a month phone bill for
11 months and 800 dollars. We have
so far paid back 550 and 3 months
on the phone bill but this person
seems to want the money on a
weekly basis by showing up at our
home and leaving notes. The payback
part isn't the problem Is this
harrasment on his behalf?

I simply cannot understand why you are paying back a gift. There are rules against such harassment, and you may consider reporting this to the police.

Other lawyers have commented on the "gift" issue, and whether you should pay back the money at all. I don't know the details of your situation, so I won't comment on that issue. Assuming that you do intend to continue paying this person, however, you can keep him from coming to your door. My first suggestion is that you simply ask him to stop. If he refuses, you can go to the police to obtain a "no trespass" order against him, which would subject him to arrest if he physically entered your property.
