Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

hit and run

I Need Info for my friend. This is very ironic. 5 mins ago we were pulling into my condos and stopped just about to turn into a spot on our right when a little kid comes very fast from the left and does serious damage to his brand new car, my friend ask if the kid is alright and he says yes and speeds away. I told him to get that kid and tell his parents but ironically 8 yrs ago a very similar thing which i was with him then for happened, and he is still going to court for this. I know he is scared and knows it will cause trouble in his other case, but it really stinks. First time was not his fault at all and this was far from his fault and he's ignoring it when I know he is very very angry. I need some advice about this and fast.

Re: hit and run

Your friend should consult an attorney. If their was personal injury or property damage in excess of $250 State law may require filing of an accident report. If the other operator left the scene without exchanging his information it may be necessary to report it to the local police as a hit and run and request their assistance in locating the other operator. Hopefully no one was seriously injured. Good luck.
