Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts
I know a lawyer cannot discuss a case with you unless you are part of the case. But can a lawyer listen to you?

The lawyer can discuss the case with you if he/she wants to, as long as you're not a private party represented by another lawyer in the same case (in which case, the lawyer can only discuss it with you, if he/she obtains the permission to do so from your lawyer).

I am guessing there is more to this question than meets the eye, but the answer is yes, of course.
