Leaving things behind

I was just wondering, My ex boyfriend took off leaving his tv, checks and some other possessions and iv'e told him repeatedly to get them out, he has not done so because he moved out of state, what am I supposed to do?

Send one more letter, Priority Mail, with Delivery Confirmation, if you are sure of his new address. This proves that the letter was received, without allowing him to dodge the signature of certified mail. Give him 14 days from the date you actually send the letter. Tell him in the letter that you are about to do what is suggested below.

If you have not heard from him in fourteen days, return the checks to the issuing bank. Demand a signature on a receipt.

The remainder of the property can be disposed of as "abandoned."

In your letter, give him the opportunity to designate someone to retrieve the goods before you dispose of them.
