Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts
Loan default
I co-sign a loan and the people claimed bankruptcy so I was responsible for paying the loan. Can I bring a claim against them to repay me for covering their loan?

Re: Loan default
Once bankruptcy is filed, all action to collect debt money is stopped. If you are a creditor, you can request that you specifically go forward tyo collect the debt to you, from the bankruptcy court. You also need to contact the creditor agent to file a claim for the amount of money you "signed" for. Massachusetts has 2 sittings for bankruptcy, Boston and Worchester. The main Bankruptcy clerk's office is in Boston.
