Could you please tell me what a partition proceeding consists of?

Actions in partition are brought by one of two or more co-owners who wish to force the sale of property held jointly or as co-owners.

Attorney Weicker is absolutely correct.
A petition to partition is useful where two or more co-owners no longer wish to own a certain peice of property together.
A much cheaper alternative is for one co-owner to purchase the ownership interest of the other co-owner.
A petition to partition is where the parties submit their dispute to the court, who will then either divide the property, or force the sale of the property and distribute the proceeds accordingly.
