Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

problem with neighbors

We are having a problem with our neighbors. We live on a narrow street, and they constanly choose to park across the street from our driveway making it difficult to get our cars out. Also, they have a spotlight (automatic) which, when on, is aimed at our bedroom window. We have tried to ask that they change, but with no success. Do we have any legal recourse to do anything?

Re: problem with neighbors

I don't know of any way to stop a person from parking a registered car on a public street. However, shining a spotlight on your property could be considered a nuisance or even a trespass. You could file suit in an appropriate court (Land Court, Superior Court, and in some counties, District Court) to seek an injunction to stop this. If the neighbors are parking the car to annoy you, you might be able to get an injunction against this as well.
