Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Security Deposit

When my husband and i moved in to our apartment, we gave the landlord a 900.00 security deposit. we lived there for 16 months, we never recieved any statments of where the money was. We also were not given the intrest on the deposit after a year. Basically the landlord did not follow any rules to properly holding a tennant's security deposit. I know if it had been held properly she could hold the deposit for the 30 days, but that is not the case here. It will soon be a month sinced we left. We are in the process of sending a certified letter asking for the money once again. After this what we be our next step? Do we have the right to sue for triple the deposit?
