If someone is sending out e-mails with statements about me that amount to slander and defamation, how do I get them to stop? They are sending out e-mails to numerous people with false statements that range from "I threatened to sue him", to "I am stealing money from an organization to pay my mortgage".

Through a cease and desist letter, perhaps -- depending on the specific circumstances involved � perhaps reserving rights to bring appropriate legal claims to compensate for injury (if any) to character, reputation, existing contract interests, advantageous business interests, consumer protection statute violations, etc., as may be applicable under the facts.
